How NOT to comment.

I get comments at times where upon reading it, I think "why would you comment that??"

Now, people vary, I know, but these are things I've picked up and learned.
Just read before you comment and no comments like "k" seriously.

Some of these can apply to cosplays, writers and artists alike, some only to one or two.

1) For cosplayers, asking "where did you get (hoodie, mask, prop, etc.)" because its basically saying that you think it was bought in a store. That really hurts and it's insulting. You're basically saying that we can't make things very well and therefore we bought it. A better question would be "how did you make (hoodie, mask, prop, etc.)" but if that's all you're going to ask, first off, read the description. It could be in there. Second of all, its more something you could ask on their profile.

2) Don't put things like "not bad" because you're suggesting its average, nothing special, like we put on regular, everyday clothes and called it cosplay, or spent no time working on the story or art.  Try to expand on your comment, make it stand out! Remember, we're only human and if you compliment us we're mire likely to a) do more of what we like and what others like and b) remember you. On a similar token, don't put one word, or worse, one letter comments in reply. Just putting "oh" "lol" or "k" is somewhat annoying. If you're just going to say "k" either type the actual word or don't respond. One word/letter comments are annoying.

3) Please please PLEASE PLEASE  don't comment with things like "Oh sexy~" or "My nosebleed won't stop" on images that are not meant to be sexual in any way shape or form. This makes me, and others too, uncomfortable. Especially when I get these comments on my cosplay, I find it rather unnerving. Seriously, don't do it unless the image is meant to be sexual if nature. If it is not obvious to you, if it's an appropriate comment or not, just don't comment with it!

4a) Don't put role-play comments on someone's deviation. If it's your own and you don't care, fine. But if it's not your art/cosplay/etc. do not start roleplaying in the comments. That's for someone's user profile, a chat room, but not on the comments of a deviation. A lot of people find it annoying.

4b) In part to that comment above, you are not your character. If if your account is an "ask so-and-so" account, and you're going to post a comment on someone's art, actually act like a human being and don't do shit like "oh me too *wags tail*" because in case you haven't noticed, you don't have one. So, if you want your comment to be taken seriously, act like a mature human and not some overdone neko OC.

5) Don't post flat-out hate in the comments, or anywhere at all. This will a) only make people dislike you (there may be the rare case where someone will agree, but for the most part, people will not.) and b) make you look extremely immature.

6) When it comes to a comic or story series, be careful with what you say. My friend Inkswell gets a lot of people complaining she's made Jeff too violent, that he would never kill a kid, etc. as well as asking over and over again for sex scenes. In a horror comic, that's never going to happen. And Jeff is called Jeff the Killer. Pretty sure he's going to kill whoever he wants. So, let me get this straight. You people complain about a well-made, well-written comic that keeps everyone in-character?? I'll never understand you people. You say you want darker characters, then as soon as you get them, you complain they're "too dark" (This isn't everyone, but I've seen a fair amount of people do this)

7) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY!! Read the description. Seriously, if we take the time to write one, you need to read it. Doing so can a) save you from making unnecessary comments that the artist may be getting a lot of and getting annoyed with people asking the same thing, b) important information and/or links, c) keep you from looking like an idiot.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for doing this!!!!
Finally someone said something about the pictures where people say it's so sexy even though it isn't supposed to be!
But I think one of the most annoying things that happen are when you get a bunch if chain mail comments on a deviation or on your homepage good or bad especial if you don't do chain mail
